Our Approach

How a Tampa Bay web design + SEO build actually runs. Four positioning pillars, 14-day flagship timeline, fixed scope, fixed price, fixed deliverables. No retainers required.

Fixed scope. Fixed price. Fixed timeline. Most agencies sell time. We sell outcomes packaged as services with concrete deliverables and a written end date. This page is how that works in practice — what we do, what we explicitly don’t, and the four principles that drive every decision.

The four positioning pillars

These aren’t aspirational. Every project gets audited against them at handoff.

ROI over aesthetics

Every design decision has to answer to a metric. The hero image, the header height, the form length, the CTA copy — none of those are taste decisions. They’re testable hypotheses about conversion. We bring opinions backed by patterns we’ve seen work; we don’t ship things that look great in our portfolio but don’t move the needle for the client.

What this looks like in practice: when you ask “what color should the button be?” we don’t say “whichever you like.” We say “warmer accent on cooler base because of contrast hierarchy and brand alignment — but if you want to A/B test, here’s how we’d structure it.”

Local Tampa expertise

We’re not a remote agency emailing from Slack. We meet at Oxford Exchange in Hyde Park, Buddy Brew in Westshore, and your office in Brandon or Wesley Chapel or Plant City. We know the difference between marketing to South Tampa and Citrus Park. We understand seasonality patterns that affect Bay-area businesses — snowbird traffic between November and April, Gasparilla and Strawberry Festival cycles, hurricane prep season, the Tampa Bay Rays playoff months.

That’s not theater. It’s how we write copy, choose imagery, schedule launches, and prioritize SEO targets. A roofer in Lutz needs different proof signals than a med spa in Davis Islands, and we know which is which.

SEO baked in from day one

National agencies bolt SEO onto design after the build. We design the URL structure, schema markup, internal linking architecture, and content silos before the first wireframe. The site ships ready to rank — not retroactively optimized.

This is why our authority sites are 100+ pages by default. Tampa businesses competing for “[service] near me” or “Tampa [industry]” queries can’t win with a 12-page brochure site. They need topical depth — pillar pages for each service, neighborhood pages for each service area, educational content that builds topical authority, and answer pages targeting featured snippets. We bake all of that into the build instead of selling it as a $3,000/month retainer afterward.

Custom over template, but pragmatic

We don’t reinvent the wheel for every project. We have battle-tested layout patterns that convert — hero structures, pricing tables, proof sections, contact flows. But every site gets custom brand expression, custom copy, custom imagery. You won’t get the same Squarespace template you saw on a competitor’s site, and you won’t get an Elementor page-builder build that takes 8 seconds to load.

The stack: custom WordPress block themes, theme.json design tokens, Gutenberg native blocks (no Elementor, no Divi, no WPBakery), LiteSpeed hosting, SEOPress for SEO, Gravity Forms for capture. Stable, fast, editor-friendly, no platform lock-in.

The 14-day flagship build

The Authority Sites flagship is 14 calendar days from kickoff to launch. That timeline is real, not aspirational. Three constraints make it work:

  1. Scope is locked at contract. We won’t add pages, features, or rewrites mid-build. If you need that, we schedule a v2 after launch. Mid-build scope creep is what kills timelines at every agency.
  2. You make decisions inside 24 hours. Two stakeholder review windows. Each one has a 24-hour decision deadline. If feedback doesn’t come back, the proposed direction stands. This isn’t a power move — it’s how we protect your timeline from your own internal politics.
  3. We don’t sell discovery as a separate phase. Discovery happens in the first 48 hours: stakeholder call, analytics review, competitor audit, content inventory. Then we build. Most agencies bill 4–6 weeks of “discovery” as scope-padding. We don’t.

The 14-day window typically runs:

  • Days 1–2: Discovery (stakeholder call, analytics, competitor audit, content audit)
  • Days 3–5: Information architecture, wireframes, copy direction sign-off
  • Days 6–10: Visual design, content production, custom theme build
  • Days 11–13: Staging build, QA pass, accessibility audit, performance pass
  • Day 14: Launch, monitoring, training handoff

Add 3–5 days if a Brand Sprint is bundled. Add 5–7 days for ecommerce (WooCommerce checkout, payment, shipping, tax setup). Site redesigns with 301 mapping run on a separate 10-day track.

How decisions get made

We keep three lists open during every build:

  • Locked decisions — things we’ve agreed on in writing. Don’t re-open these.
  • Open decisions — things we’ll resolve in the next review window.
  • Out of scope — things you want but that aren’t in this engagement; we log them for v2.

This is the part most agencies fight us on. We don’t accept “let’s just see how it looks” decisions because that’s how 14-day builds become 4-month builds. Every decision is logged, dated, and traceable.

What we explicitly don’t offer

  • Logo design as a standalone product. It’s part of a Brand Sprint or a full build, not a separate service.
  • SEO content writing as a subscription. We do strategy and technical SEO. For high-volume content production we refer to copywriting partners.
  • Paid media management. We handle the conversion side; we don’t run Google Ads or Meta Ads. We partner with Tampa media agencies for that.
  • Shopify development. Not in our stack. Shopify-fit clients get referred to specialists who do that work better than we would.
  • DTC retail e-commerce as a primary offering. We’ll do WooCommerce for an existing service-business client adding a product line, but we don’t lead with DTC retail builds.
  • Sub-$1M businesses or $20M+ enterprise builds. Wrong scope on both ends. We refer those prospects out.
